The Emancipation Proclamation was one of the most powerful documents in American history. Without it, slavery could still be happening today. Abraham Lincoln essentially passed it to make a turning point in the Civil War. Little did he know he had created the document that would drastically change the lives of enslaved African Americans and their future generations. If I had been there when Lincoln read it, I’m sure I would have had tears of joy. I can’t even imagine how shook and in awe the people that were there were; I get goose bumps just thinking about it.
