When dealing with brain injuries it could be so many parts of the brain affected as well as your memory. It is hard to distinguish which part of the brain may be affected if you don’t understand the types of memories. There are many types of memories such as implicit memory, procedural memory, explicit memory and etc. I believe he was using his implicit memory because that doesn’t require consciousness thought which is why he could answer everything so quickly. He was not using explicit memory because that requires conscious thought and he couldn’t remember after thirty minutes.
