Throughout history, government has always evolved and adapted to the times. From monarchies to democracies, government has changed and shifted throughout numerous nations. Government is an essential part of a successful civilization; it enforces some sort of law and order, preventing chaos. Without government nations could very well be in disorder and the advancements that the human race has made may not even exist. The definition of government according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is “1. The group of people who control and make decisions for a country, state, etc.”, and “2. The executive branch has the responsibilities of “enforcing and carrying out laws” (usa.gov, Branches of Government). The president, vice president, the Cabinet, as well as other boards make up the executive branch. The president is the elected leader of the country. They carry the responsibility of being “the leader of the federal government and the commander in chief of the United States Armed Forces”.
