Albrecht Durer, created a series of fifteen woodcut illustrations in 1498. “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”, was one of them. The illustration was based on the Book of Revelations in the bible. The cowboys represented Conquest, War, Famine and Death.
The four horsemen rode on different color horses. The first horsemen rode on a white horse with a bow in his hand and he symbolized conquest. The second horsemen rode on a red horse with a sword in his hand and he symbolized war. The third horsemen rode on a black horse with a set of balances in his hand and he symbolized famine. The fourth horsemen rode on a pale horse with a pitchfork in his hand and he symbolized death.
Revelation, chapter 6, spoke about the four horsemen. They appeared
