Cassandra also known as Cassie is in a horrific and deadly catastrophe. Alien’s are in the process of trying to wipe out the earths population by five waves. The first wave strikes out all the electricity calling the first wave lights out. The second wave is called surf’s up, which refers to earthquakes creating an immensely large tsunami wiping out the coasts. The third wave that killed Cassie’s mom is titled the pestilence wave. The fourth wave that Cassie is currently in is the Silencer wave. Rick Yancey the author of The 5th Wave introduces three vital searches including, Cassie searching for the truth and actuality of what is happening and why, for her freedom no matter how hard it is to contain, and the search for her life when her life …show more content…
What the hell is going on? They tell us they don’t know” (Yancey 106). The search is on for the truth, but is impossible to find. Cassie wants to know why the aliens are here and what is their purpose for all the killing. Cassie’s search for truth is important, because without her desire for truth she would have locked herself up in her house once alerts went out that the alien’s where coming over fear. Instead of fearing the alien’s Cassie continued her everyday normal life. She attended school, went to soccer practice, and came home and watched the News. Since Cassie does this she has a chance to question and search for truth. Having this small amount of ordinary in Cassie’s life after life became not so normal affected her like a small game piece that is exceptionally important to a board game ☺(Simile). Doing the small act of regular everyday life keeps thriving memories of happiness through the appallingly merciless times in Cassie’s head. Therefore having the wholesome moments in the merciless times reflects on Cassie later when she feels their can be no good times in the bad times, but then she remembers it can happen if you make it happen which keeps her
