In the state of Missouri, St Louis, stands the countries tallest monument. It stands at 192 Meters, meaning it is the worlds tallest arch. The arch is an internationally famous symbol for St Louis. Sitting on the West bank of the Mississippi river. A Finnish - American architect, Eero Saarinen designed The Gateway Arch in 1947, with construction beginning on February 12, 1963, and was completed on October 28, 1965, for $13 million which is the equivalent to around $180 million dollars today. The monument introduced to the public on June 10, 1967.

Tourists can go crazy about huge buildings and different sorts of architecture, and this is definitely something that tourist can look forward to seeing and getting a good snap of. The strategy is to make the Arch grounds a compelling place to visit, attract more tourists who will stay in downtown hotels and eat in downtown restaurants, creating jobs and tax revenue in the process. The amount of tourist visitors in the first year of the Gateway arch opening was 4.6M, however this plummeted to 1.4M just four years later. This seen a gradual increase then where it was at its second highest in 1996 at 3.6M. With the latest recording of visitors being in 2012, which saw 2.5M visitors that year. This shows that although the number of visitors have dropped and dipped over the 40 plus years of being open. It is still really popular and it something that tourists want to see. It would be a shame for Missouri to lose such an amazing monument, or for some reason people not being able to be close. There may be one reason how this could
