The Gilded Age was a term coined by Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner that describes the time between 1865 to 1895. During these times their were good times and bad. This was an era of new innovations, such as the first soda fountain, the electric light bulb, and other things that shaped today's life as we know it. Railroads allowed for goods, services, workers and passengers to move from one place to another more efficiently and at less cost. Railroad companies such as, The Central Pacific, Union Pacific, Kansas Pacific, and The Pennsylvania Railroads, became the U.S. large scale businesses.
