Thesis: The societies in The Giver by Lois Lowry and 1984 by George Orwell have categories in which they are similar and many they are not. ????In terms of society that are different but when talking about type of government they're the same????. The structures of these two governments could show the reasons for failure or success.

1.The Givers society classifies as a utopia. The Elders want the community to be surrounded by peace and everyone to look the same. “...That was before we went to sameness. Today flesh is all the same” (Lowry 90). The citizens of Oceania can choose where to work and how far in that career that person wants to go. The people can work to be higher up in the government, which is also a downside because these people have more privileges than others. Nobody is better than anybody else in the of the giver, because the economy is based on the the jobs given to the people which is also a drawback to the community because the citizens can't make any choices about what kind of life to live.

10. (insert people pro here). The people in 1984 do not have any close relationships with anyone marriage is only to make children and friendship isn't a big thing to have. The citizens have really dull personalities due to the lack lack of emotion that can be shown. The people in the giver are free to think some things. There is no conflict with the people or violence throughout the country but that is the caused by a disadvantage which is that the government has gotten rid of all deep emotions within the citizens.
