Everyone struggles with something in their life, but not everybody’s issues are the same. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls shows her hardships that she went through during her life. People can relate to her memoir, not necessarily because they moved around a lot or their father was an alcoholic, but simply because they have gone through something hard as well. I know that I can relate to her story because of things I am going through and have gone through in the past. Not one person’s struggles are less important than another person’s. Like Jeannette Walls in The Glass Castle, I used to think there was a storm in my head that was killing all of the flowers, but eventually, I realized that I had to let go of what was eating my heart and soul. It all started when I was five years old sitting on the couch eating macaroni and cheese. Out of nowhere, I started crying and screamed for my mom. I kept telling her that I was scared I was going to throw up and I constantly asked her if I would. The rest of the day I would not leave my mom’s side. Some may be worse than others, but everybody’s situation is important. In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Jeannette’s mother said, “Things usually work out in the end.” After Jeannette heard her say that, she asked, “What if they don’t?” and her mother’s response was, “That just means you haven’t come to the end yet.” I like this quote from the book because it is so true. Everything eventually gets better in life. In order to love life, people have to turn the page and realize there is more to life than the page they are stuck on. For me, I had to stop being afraid to move on. When I finally let go of my past, I knew I could be happy again. I now have a boyfriend who loves and respects me. And as for friends, it doesn’t matter how many you have. I know I can count on the few very close friends that I
