Erma is one of the many unique characters in The Glass Castle. She could be described using negative traits. One of the main traits I have noticed is Erma having a derogatory look at how she acts. There was a time in the book when Jeanette explained she would unexpectedly hit them without reasoning. She has shown to be Immature at times as well. There was the time when Lori and she fought after she touched Brian inappropriately. Erma is also an alcoholic. She was always drinking hooch. This explains why Rex is an alcoholic. One of the more humorous traits of Erma is the fact that she is hypocritical. She claims she treats the kids much better than her parents treated her, which is probably not true.
