In “The Glass Castle,” Jeanette Walls describes her parents parenting style as permissive. As told in the story, Jeanette’s parents are lenient and often let their kids make decisions on their own; like the time Jeanette was cooking hotdogs and burned herself. Jeanette and the nurses discuss how she got the burns on pg. 11: “Mom says I’m mature for my age, and she lets me cook for myself a lot,” Jeanette was cooking hotdogs without any supervision which led to her getting burned.
