The Godfather
The movie The Godfather (1972) directed by Francis Ford Coppola is an adaptation of the book by the same name. The movie was a success, telling us the story of a New York based mafia. In the movie the family is in a constant competition with other families. Even going so far as to attack the godfather while out and about in the grocery store. Michael, the successor of the family business, wanted nothing to do with the business. He tried his best to stay away but after his father's injury he stepped forward as the new Godfather. He tries to change the business by coming up with a plan. As time goes on he starts to change and his big plan to change the family starts to diminish. Michael is pulled into the family business and becomes who he did not want to be.
The beginning of the movie also starts off with showing us a lot. We are shown a man telling us a story about his daughter. He tells us the sad story of his daughter being brutally attacked and how they got off free.

The baby is being forgiven for its sins and Michael has just started. During this 5 minute long scene there is a constant flipping back and forth of the baptism and Michaels killings of his rivals. From what we hear, the priest talks in Italian so we don’t focus on what he is saying and then changes to English when we should focus on it. The priest is asking Michael if he believes in god, which can mean that he is devoting himself to the family business when he replies with, “I do”. We are constantly being shown the killing of his rivals. They have stabbed Michael in the back, shooting his father, shooting his brother, and threatening to do more. Michael finally gets back at them by killing them. The film ends with Michaels friend’s congratulating him for killing his sister's husband. Michael’s wife horrifyingly looks at him as she realizes that he has become the new
