The American school system is known as the “great equalizer” but I think this is anything but a “great equalizer”. The US school system is more of a divergent force than an equalizer. Everything we do is separated by class rank. The upper class families get STEM schools where their kids get to learn new important things to help them get into better colleges and get better jobs; working class families get tiny old buildings that serve far more kids than they should where their kids don’t get the attention that they need or learn the things that will help them get into good colleges.
