The author uses these words intentionally because the title “Belasco” symbolizes David Belasco, a director who created realistic sets for his productions. Judging from the host’s factual books, the stranger suggests that Gatsby’s house is a set that was designed by the owner to purposely fit into the rest of the status quo.
