Choose, having to start your life over or be judged everywhere you go for most of your life? The Great Migration was an opportunity for african americans to get away. A time where you have just enough to get by. In this paper the author will discuss where the Great Migration originated, where you would end up, and how people of color reacted to starting over. After slaves were freed, whites still felt the need for African Americans to be worked. If you were found you on a street corner, they would lock you up, and you could be leased. Job opportunities were few for blacks. During the war, blacks were still in some places so, they got all the jobs that were open.When the war was over, and whites came back, blacks were fired and whites got the jobs. Rights were still uneven and were being decided. African Americans were standing up for themselves and were protesting and rioting. Few whites thought that blacks should have the same rights. The Great Migration started because of the reactions whites had to blacks being free.Also their reaction to blacks having the same rights. People might ask why should they have the same rights? They should because we are all part of one race, and that is the human race. The human race is all one race but not all one color. If whites were going to ship off everyone who wasn’t from America, they would have to ship themselves off too because, Native American are the rightful leaders.Another question would be why was the Emancipation Proclamation created?
