The Great Mouse Detective is similar to Sherlock Holmes because they both investigate the crimes and problem in cases but they are not all the same as the other one.
In The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, they are both trying to figure out what the client wants to know about usually a case or a missing person. Basil of bakers street was trying to solve the case of Olivia's father went missing and she did not know where he went. Just like how in the movie Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock is looking for lord blackwood because he is going around killing people so he can take control of the British Parliament to rule the world. In The Great Mouse Detective, the distractions are when Fidget goes to the toy store to get the parts for the robot. In Sherlock Holmes the distraction was where Irene was paid by a professor to distract Holmes so get could get a part off the machine. In The Great Mouse Detective, the distraction was Fidget going and getting the parts for the machine and when he stole the uniforms. in Sherlock Holmes, the distraction was irene was getting followed but it was just a distraction for the professor to get a piece off the machine so that he can use it later for another invention. The people that are helping Basil and Holmes will help them get passed the distractions and help them solve the mystery. This is Dr. Watson and Dr. Dawson that are the ones that sometimes help Sherlock and
