The article then begins to blame the VA disability system for these veterans not getting the treatment they need to get better. The author interviews an individual that makes the statement, “If we pay people significant amounts of money, tax-free, for having flashbacks, nightmares and startle reactions, it makes it harder to engage them in treatment,” (Zarembo, 2014). It is sad to realize that this is the attitude that many people that have not served have.
