On March 3rd, I watched the 60 minutes story of “The Hostage” by Elaine Weinstein, wife of Warren Weinstein, who was kidnapped at gunpoint while in Pakistan. She told the story of how she discovered her husband was kidnapped and held for ransom, which led her to doing everything in her power to get her husband back. Specifically, she explained how she had to take it upon herself, despite reaching out to top U.S. officials to negotiate and plead with the kidnappers over the course of four years in an attempt to get her husband out of their custody, only to have him killed by a United States drone strike.
