The Humanoid Landscape

Earth’s resources were depleting more rapidly than ever; humanity had already given up on itself to try and redeem the wreck and destruction it has caused. A few countries had collapsed. Scientists everywhere were desperately grasping at thin straws of ideas, continuously preparing the world for the future, afraid for what it may bring.
In an isolated lab buried deep underground, a humanoid opened its eyes for the first time.

“Humanoids are to be slowly introduced to the world, stated the government representative this morning.”
The news reporter on the screen was replaced with an image of one of the first humanoids. It was a young female, with the shapely figure of any other human being. Her skin was a lovely olive tone; most of her facial features did not portray any sign of difference to the human race. Fear, anxiety and excitement began to flow into Kai’s head and the questions tumbled around. He quickly walked home, it wasn’t too far now. Was it just him, or was the afternoon getting warmer?
Kai arrived home, the holographic coloured house was anything but similar to the other houses - his mother had planted various plants and flowers around the house and trained many to grow up the walls. She was a great believer in sustaining the environment; Kai always believed that she had passed on that little quirk to him. He walked through the hallway and into the kitchen, welcomed by the sight of his father sitting at the kitchen table, head buried in hands. His mother stood by his father, whispering incoherent words in a soothing tone. Kai shifted awkwardly from one leg to another, still aware of the deathly silence outside. Sweat began to gather around the collar of his shirt; the room temperature had definitely risen. Kai opened his mouth to break the uncomfortable silence, but his father beat him to
