The Hurt Locker: A Film Review

In the movie “The Hurt Locker”, William James (Jeremy Renner) and Anthony Mackie (Sanborn), star as two soldiers apart of a bomb squad stationed in Iraq. The squad lost their leader and sergeant which brought William James to the crew. Sanborn and Eldridge are the secondary soldiers in the bomb squad unit. Tempers flare and doubt arises as James brings a different approach as he is substantially more reckless than the rest of the crew. James’ unorthodox approach is due to some sort of PTSD as well as an extreme adrenaline addiction. The realistic ability that the camera brought upon was uncanny and promoted the real life feeling of the movie. Some may also disagree with me stating that the acting of Mackie and Renner was inferior and often time overpraised. While there are some slower parts to the movie, Renner and Mackie were able show enthusiasm and intensity in every scene. The tension is felt by the viewers, between the bomb squad unit. The ability the gradually change the tone of the friendship between James and Sambor is remarkable in its own, and it’s undoubtedly an attest to the casting agents as well as the actual actors. The cinematography and acting in this 2009 thriller were the two aspects that truly made this film feel like a blockbuster hit. The highs and lows as well as the multitude of camera angles supported the Cinematography aspect with ease. And the acting truly made the film feel like real life. All in all it is an extremely good film that will be highly touted for quite some time. I give the movie an A because of the pure ability in every aspect of the film along with an extremely entertaining
