The American Dream is something that everybody dreams of achieving, but the idea of what it may actually be differs from household to household. A person’s perspective on what this may actually consist of tends to have many factors. Achieving the American Dream is always going to be done differently for everyone.

In today’s society, there are so many different things that play a role in how a person perceives what the American Dream really is. Some people may think that it is not being married and having great amounts of money. Although that may seem like a suitable lifestyle to live for some people, it may not seem okay for others. Some people may think that the only lifestyle to live is to have multiple kids, a great career, and to be happily married. A person’s outlook on their dreams and goals in life all come from how they were raised. A lot of people who were raised in poverty know how hard it was not having any money, so they want more for their own children.

A person does not need to have the nicest car and billions of dollars to be happy. Growing up I always remember my parents teaching me to not be a materialistic person because having a lot of things is not happiness. My idea of the American Dream also does not just consist of happiness and love. Whenever I start a life of my own aside from my parents, I want a decently sized house and a good career. I have always dreamed of having a basement, because whenever I was younger they just seemed like the coolest things ever. I also want to have a big back yard with lots of animals. Although my opinion and my neighbors may differ, everyone should try to reach some if not all of what their dream consists of. A person should never give up on what they dream to
