Academically, serious injuries such as concussions can cause you to fall behind. Students who have concussion symptoms have issues in the classroom as well. “The study found that high school students who have not yet fully recovered from concussion are particularly vulnerable to school-related problems experienced by elementary and middle school students” (Straus). If a player cannot pass the concussion test, the athlete will struggle with some of their school work especially if it is on a computer. Along with not being able to play, the student-athlete will very likely fall behind in the classroom. Concussions cause students to not be able to concentrate well on assignments or test, and prevent students from being able to do work on computers.
