Daylight Savings Time (also called DST) is a way to help us use daylight more efficiently, or to save daylight, as well as to conserve energy, such as electricity. By turning our clocks ahead an hour, we make daylight last longer in a way. We have more sunlight to do more fun things going into the evening because the sun sets later. We have less sunlight in the morning, as the sun rises later.
Daylight Saving Time involves changing the time on our clocks by one hour, either forward or backward, each year. The second Sunday in March, during spring, we turn our clocks ahead (spring forward) one hour. The first Sunday in November, during fall, we turn our clocks back (fall back) one hour. Officially, 2:00 a.m. is when the time changes happen.
