In New York carrying weapons without a license a priori is a criminal offense. As stated in the lawsuit, the law of New York State, prohibiting the sale of semi-automatic weapons and introducing restrictions on the number of rounds in the cage and violates the second amendment to the US Constitution. It guarantees the right of citizens to keep and bear firearms. New York became the first US state to adopt a law to tighten gun control after the tragedy in Newtown in the neighboring state of Connecticut. In December last year, 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot there in twenty primary school children and six adults.
