In the winter the homeless population goes from 6,000 to 10,000. Four thousand more people are hungry and left out in the cold. That is unfair and nobody should have to experience that. There is a seven year old girl, Marlene who often ask “why are you here?” or “is there any chance I might leave with you?” (Boyd) She says that to visitors in her village in desperation to leave. Even the young children can see that haiti isn’t a place of comfort and where they want to live at. Any child that can see that deserves to be somewhere better. Like a lot of the people living there, they are obviously too poor to even think about relocating. Fe y Alegria, a International organization founded in 19 countries, has helped Haiti in major ways to improve their country. Fe y Alegria has 1,200 schools, 2,400 educational centers, 33,000 teachers and 946,600 students, some of which that are in Haiti. The organization has provided great education sources for Haiti considering the fact they have an 50% illiteracy rate. (Klarreich) Haiti can depend on themselves to be a more reliable country without the help from anybody else. Even though most would like to argue that, they are wrong! Haiti is in desperate need for more help. They have various problems that need to be solved. They have dearth roads, no healthcare systems and untreatable public schools! Also, the poorest haitians eat dirt. That’s very unacceptable because no human being should have to eat dirt just to stay alive. If more people would open up their hearts and see how much these children and adults are suffering just to survive, they can make Haiti become a better
