SERVICE AREA (250 characters)

LC trained volunteer tutors meet their student for one-on-one tutoring throughout Dutchess County. We also have convenient drop-in centers offering ESL classes in Poughkeepsie, Wappingers, Beacon, Dover Plains and Wingdale. In addition, our children’s program serves over 250 children in seven DC schools.

POPULATION SERVED (500 characters)

Literacy Connections has been serving the lowest literacy level adult students and immigrants lacking basic literacy skills for over 40 years. Because illiteracy (or low literacy) is a family issue and to prevent the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy, we also offer reading enrichment to children who are struggling with reading in 3-4th grades – the crucial time when children are transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn.
