How can love affect a person? In the novel Jayber Crow, by Wendell Berry, it shows the readers about a man life that’s going threw different changes in his life. Jayber lost his parents at an early age. He is scared because he just loss his parents and they put him in a orphanage. Once he grew up he became a barber in a small town. Then Jayber falls in love while losing love one’s along the way. Jayber Crow experienced different things in his life, like loss, love, and hope. The lost of a love one can hurt the soul and make you cede on life. Losing hope for love, ”Many grieving people want to spend more time alone. Sometimes they’re drawn to the quiet and safety they experience there, and sometimes it’s a way of dodging other people.” This mean when someone loss someone that’s really close to them it can hurt them mentally to where they don’t want to talk to anyone. Jayber Crow is in love with Mattie Chatham and he is loved by his family. For example, Jayber said, ”then twelve years later brought me back again to the proper end of my life to the love of my life, Mattie Chatham.” This shows the feelings Jayber have for Mattie. In losing hope for love says, ”But, when it comes to love, there is a huge difference between simply being in love and loving someone.” When you are in love that means you are in love with a girl or boy but loving someone is like loving a family member, but noting can break the bond. Another example of love when Jayber said, ”I suppose Aunt Cordie and Uncle Othy had a store of affection laid away that they now brought out and applied to me.” Jayber were loved by his family even though they lost their kids.
