Good morning, Mrs. Foreman and fellow classmates. Thank you for letting me speak to you this morning. Police brutality is pervasive in this country. Before all of the news channels and cameras, police brutality has always been a troubling factor in this country. Ever since the enforcement of police power in the United States, police officers have thought of themselves at as a higher power. Police brutality should be stopped and laid to rest in America. As the President of the NAACP has said, "We've got to be just as vigilant at rooting out brutal, inhumane acts [of police brutality] as we are concerned about arresting a 15-year-old kid who may be washing windows at an intersection." I am a young African American that has faced discrimination and degradation throughout my life. African Americans are unfairly targeted while driving, this phenomenon is so pervasive that there is even a phrase for it “driving while black” African American teens have little …show more content…
That doesn’t give you the right to take out your weapon and shoot them for feeling threatened. If you are unarmed why should you be shot or brutalized for either questioning why you have been stopped or not responding to the officer the way he wants you to. Some Americans think if the problem is getting better than it was, then we should stop talking about the problem at hand. African Americans are in a dire need of relief that their fellow man or women will return safely back home. The problem of excessive force and corresponding lack of accountability is outrageous in America. As long as there is police brutality going I will not stand for it. We should let our young African Americans know what is going in the community and prepare them for it. Get together and take about what is happening in the country, and share your own personal ideas. Also the Police Chiefs should talk with their cops about how to handle an everyday
