The Importance Of Prince Hal's Speech In Henry V

In Henry V, Henry V also known as Prince Hal gives a speech to his soldiers because they are about to go to war with France. The soldiers in his army are all from different places and are all in different stages of their life and clearly all of different status. The purpose of the speech he gives is to make all his men feel valued and equal, even though they are all very different, some men he has might be higher in status than other men but he wants all his men to feel equal for the moral support. In this essay I will provide some examples of how Henry’s speech makes his men feel valued in this war and that they are important. Prince Hal starts this speech by telling them that he is not selfish when it comes to things like money or property, but that he cares the most about his pride and honor.
