Are Amendments actually necessary if they aren't implemented correctly? The First Amendment covers freedom of religion, speech, press, petition, and assembly. The First Amendment is enforced too leniently, mainly threats, pertaining to violence, and misconception to its original meaning.
The greatest example of the First Amendment being too lenient is when it comes to threats. The First Amendment should be taken more seriously because threats can be fatal! “Little Agent stood so close, took all the strength I had not to turn the (women) Ghost. Pull my knife, flick my wrist, and slit her throat” (Reuters). This is a prime example of how the First Amendment needs to be enforced more harshly because the threat in this quote could lead to something more lethal.

As this article talks about things that freedom of speech should not allow “To incite actions that would harm others (e.g., “Shouting ‘fire’ in a crowded theater.”).Schenck v. United States, 249 U.S. 47 (1919).” (“What Does Free Speech Mean?”). This quote shows that even things that indirectly start violence should not be okay also. “Free speech does not apply to “fighting words.” These are words which by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace.”(“The Limits Of First Amendment Protection.”).
