Many people debate with and against the rights to the Second Amendment in the United States. Although in the past, the Second Amendment got very little attention for decades, in present day people debate whether we should have the rights the Second Amendment grants us. The Second Amendment in the United States Constitution states, “a well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms should not be infringed”(Diane Rehm, Debate Over The Second Amendment To The U.S. Constitution, lines 9-10), meaning the right to bear arms shouldn’t be broken in any way. Civilian firearms could potentially save some lives if they have been used for a self defense purpose and many people just have a gun for that reason, self defense. “The United States has less than 5% of the world’s population, but has a third and a half of the world’s civilian owned guns”(Introduction to Guns and Crime: At Issue, lines 1-2). Yemen has the second most civilian firearms in the whole world with approximately for every 100 people, there is 55 guns. The United States has the most civilian firearms with approximately 270 million, 89 guns out of 100 people. The right to bear arms has reasonable restrictions, like many other Bill of Rights.
