Throughout the day today, Americans will honor, remember, and thank the men and women that have fought long and hard to hold our nation together. For almost 240 years now, the bravest of us have protected our freedoms with their time, honor, and sacrifices. These people decided to protect this country before themselves, risking their lives in doing so. Therefore, the least we can do is to thank them for everything they’ve done. As Elmer Davis once said, “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” Without people that are willing to fight for the United States, this country would fail to give its citizens any protections as it could easily be taken over by a corrupted power.
