I've never really thought about stereotyping in depth before because when I did, it was usually after I had experienced an extremely outward and unpleasant form of stereotyping, and that would usually lead to fear and shock conquering my mind and making me unable to think logically. Such instances did not occur often, so the thought generally escaped my mind. However, now that I reflect on it, stereotyping has been prevalent throughout my entire life. I have experienced stereotyping, witnessed others experience it, and participated in stereotyping, both consciously and unconsciously in the past.

Canada is a developed country that is well-known for its cultural diversity and its acceptance of all sorts of people so it would be quite ironic and disappointing to have stereotypes still run wild in Canada today. After all, stereotypes stem from ignorance and one's inability to have an impartial view on the different people of different origins in a society. Everyone in Canada should be aware that stereotyping is damaging and unhealthy for the society and will only bring about misunderstandings and other negative outcomes. Stereotypes should be destroyed as they distort the images of people and groups. To reduce and hopefully put an end to the stereotyping in our country, we should raise more awareness on this social disease and implant an open mindset in young children and infants by providing them with good role models and surrounding them in an accepting atmosphere. People should also strive to think with more care and analyze how their prejudiced thoughts could lead to actions that may hurt
