“Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December.” December was the month that Poe’s mother died. There are many ways Poe’s life impacted his writing. The first was death of his loved ones. The second was alcoholism and the last thing that impacted his writing was how he was poor.
Death of Poe’s loved ones was a big part that impacted his writing. First, Poe’s mother died of tuberculosis when Edgar was only 2 years old. Edgar’s wife Virginia also died of tuberculosis in 1847. Mrs. Allan, who adopted Poe, died in 1829 while Poe was in the army. Second, Poe wrote a few stories to symbolize death of his loved ones.
