Troy’s identity is more influenced by nurture. All his life experiences made him the person he was. Troy faced hard life situations, which influenced his characteristics and how he’s influencing others as well. He also had dreams, which he didn’t accomplish, but he had them until he died.
Troy was a man who liked to have many women. His mother influenced the reason why he liked to show affection but not love nor loyalty. In Act one Scene four page 51 Troy said, “ My mama couldn’t stand him. Couldn’t stand the evilness. She run off when I was eight. She sneaked off one night after he had gone to sleep. Told me she was coming back for me. I ain’t never seen her no more.” Troy’s mother left him; he didn’t receive love from the first woman who was supposed to. That’s the influence factor that lead Troy to not trust women and he became a cheater to his wife Rose.

Growing up Troy really didn’t have a family either, his mother left Troy and his siblings and his father made them work at a young age and he would also beat them. Those harsh experiences influenced Tory to become very close with himself and not be open with others. Troy’s sons also doubt the love of his father like in Act one Scene one pages 37 to 38 Cory asked Troy “ How come you ain’t never liked me?” Troy “ Like you? I go out of here every morning… bust my butt… putting up with this crackers every day… cause I like you? It’s my job. It’s my responsibility! A man got to take care of his family.” That paragraph is like seeing Troy’s father when in page 51 Troy said “ My daddy ain’t had them walking blues! What you talking about? He stayed right there with his family. But he was just evil as he could be.” Troy became like his father and how he was raised and influenced by
