When it comes to facing depression and loneliness, we read that both of these problems are caused by the same situation and it also shows that it can lead to dangerous long-term effects. Firstly, in Sofia Demblings, “The introvert's corner”, she discusses the threats of spending too much time alone and how it affects both mentally and physically. She portrays this, by describing how she would spend much of her days behind her computer talking to her friends through social media, such as Facebook. But, she rambles on by saying that spending too much time alone could result in turning down invites and drifting away from our close friends and family. Moreover, in the study “the dangers of loneliness”, Hara Estroff Marano states that “Friendship is a lot like food” due to the fact that “we need it to survive.” She back her points by referring to a research done by Psychologist John Cacioppo of the University of Chicago, and in this research one point made is that if our need for social relationships …show more content…
This was shown, by Demblings efforts to step out of her fortress off and enjoy the company of her friends doing activities they all like and as a result, she stated that her husband had noticed her being “cheerier” as well as “more relaxed.” On the other hand, Cacioppo’s research certifies that loneliness make someone experience a high level of wear and tear leaning toward life-threatening illness and the after-effects that could lead to someone to put life to be on the line. Meaning that if we do not push ourselves like Sofia did then we are in danger of a highly severe outcome like committing suicide, having high blood pressure and even getting into alcoholism.
