The idea that “women can have it all” like the Kardashians present can be seen as inspirational to women because in society women are told that they have to choose between a career vs being a family woman. While the Kardashians prove this is far from the truth, that they are the walking images of being able to have it all. Though they have gotten their bodies worked on several times through many parts of the year it could promote the idea that “change what you don’t like” instead settling for what you do not like about yourself and accepting who you are, you can just change it instead. The Kardashians might promote the sexualization of young women, however, though in this ad both of the youngest ones are almost fully covered and are not showing more skin than a normal twenty something would being a model. There is a difference between the word “can” and the word “should.” The idea that woman can have it all is actually a comforting idea and widely used in feminist movements to say that women do not have to be restricted by their profession or being a wife and mother. However, the Kardashians promote the image that women should have it all, that there is a standard we should be capable of living up to where we can equally balance a work life, social life, marriage, and being a full-time mother. Not everyone has millions of dollars to be able to afford a new nose, set of breasts, or an entire new face. Preaching body acceptance while they have had their bodies worked on over and over for several years does nothing for their audience but create an image that unless they have the money to afford plastic surgery and high end makeup they will be never be able to come close to feeling
