According to Bob Keeshan, “Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the parent.” The children’s behavior and physical characteristics are a lot likely to be influenced or shaped by their parents because they are the closest people a child could ever have. One of the example is shown in “The Kite Runner”. In the book “The Kite Runner” the character Baba has outstanding characteristics and unexpected actions. He was proud because everyone in the town respected him, but he has a strained relationship with his son because his son was more a boy who loved to read and write, than the son who is athletic and brave as Baba desired him to be. “When it became abundantly clear that I [Amir] hadn’t inherited a shred of his athletic talents, he [Baba] settles for trying to turn me into a passionate spectator” (Hosseini, 15). Baba’s stubbornness of making Amir into an athletic boy did not stop until Baba realized that Amir is totally different with him both in behavior and in physical characteristics.“If I hadn’t seen the doctor pull him [Amir] out of my wife with my own eyes, I’d never believe he’s my son" (Hosseini, 24-25). Baba even did not want to admit Amir is his son, if he haven’t seen Amir pulled out from his wife. Baba did not feel proud for Amir who is an ordinary boy, without any physical athletic talents. Baba’s stubbornness and his pride made his relationship with his son, Amir, more bitter, and awkward because of this Amir shaped a lacking of love characteristic which lead Amir to jealous of Hassan whenever Baba pays attention to
