The Kite Runner In the book Kite Runner, Amir the narrator, states how loyalty and betrayal are the biggest factors within Kite Runner and are used throughout the entire book. Amir writes how betrayal is an easier act than loyalty. The term loyalty is hardly expressed in the book Kite Runner because it has been overcome by betrayal. This image is projected a lot throughout the book. Betrayal and loyalty can both have positive and negative effects which are proven in the Kite Runner. Amir had quite a few acts of betrayal

The first example of Hassan being loyal would be “Hassan always took the blame when he and Amir got into trouble. ” Even if Amir was at fault when trouble was present, Hassan wanted to be a good friend to Amir, so he always took the blame. Another example of loyalty from Hassan would be “ Hassan took the blame when Amir stole items and hid them in his house, because he knew Baba would never forgive Amir if he found out that it was him.” Once again, Hassan’s loyalty to Amir is shown because he took the blame for something really bad that Amir had done so that their father, Baba, would think it was him and not Amir. Hassan made this decision because he knew that Baba would never ever forgive Amir. On the other hand, he hoped that Baba would forgive him. These examples show loyalty because Hassan did not think twice about taking the blame for his step brother’s actions, even if it did put him in jeopardy of losing his father’s trust or anyone else. Acts of loyalty and betrayal happen in the Kite Runner. It is common for acts of betrayal to occur to people and the ones that are most loyal to them. As in the Kite Runner, loyalty is built upon the foundation of trust, and once trust is betrayed, one must earn it back. The only way trust between people can be mended is for the individual to be loyal to the person whom they have betrayed.
