The Lady Or The Tiger Literary Analysis

“They never knew whether they were to witness a bloody slaughter or a hilarious wedding”(Stockton, 4). This quote represents the brutality of the plot of The Lady or the Tiger because it says what could or could not happen in the story. In the story, Stockton uses suspenseful elements as well as a mysterious ending to keep the reader’s attention. In the story The Lady of or the Tiger Frank Stockton creates suspenseful experience for the reader through his use of tone creative plot structure and ends in a mystery.

The tone is suspenseful because of the mysterious element. An example of this would be “he opened either he pleased, without having the slightest idea whether, in the next instant, he was to be devoured or married.(Stockton 3)”.
