How Disney is ruining the Star War franchise after they bought Lucas Arts? Disney purchased Star was in 2012 and payed 4 billion dollars for Lucas Arts. Lucas films made episode 4 Return of the Jedi starting the legendary movie trilogy Star Wars. Disney later on purchased Star Wars and after the purchase Disney started to produce new movies that take place during and after the series. Disney has now made four movies after the purchasing of Lucas Arts, and one after another the profits and overall rating of the movies has been spiraling down. The first movie that Disney made was called “The Force Awakens” where a new trilogy starts off after the rebels overthrows of the Galactic Empire. Throughout the movie they did a ton of call outs to the old movies and they made some new characters that spiced of the start of a new trilogy. The director J.J. Abrams made a great start to the trilogy and then tragedy struck with “The Last Jedi “which destroyed they franchises new make on movies. “The Last Jedi” was a horrific movie that put the Star Wars trilogy at jeopardy. The last Jedi takes place one day after the force awakens ends. With Rey and her new found powers she hasn’t had much training unlike other main characters like Luke Skywalker or Anakin Skywalker. After I watched “The Last Jedi” I was shocked to say the least, after getting out of the of the movie theater. Then I decided to watch it again and I was disappointed in the movie and as a fan of Star Wars it was a terrible movie all together. In The Last Jedi they had terrible scenes and terrible plots. They gave Rey an obscene amount of force power without much training, unlike her counterpart Kylo, who has had years of training with Luke and Snoke. One of the only scenes that was cool was when Rey and Kylo faced off against Snokes bodyguards. I understand how Kylo was able to fend off the guards, but Rey on the other hand hasn’t had much training and she was able to kill just as many of the guards as Kylo. First, they made Luke a hermit that lives alone and doesn’t use the fore and gave up fighting evil, which doesn’t fit his character at all. Luke was persistent and strong willed fighting Darth Vader, and not giving into the emperor’s temptations to the dark side of the force. Even when all hope was lost in the last movie when the rebellion is getting destroyed Luke didn’t turn to the dark side. Showing that he will fight until the very end and would give up his life for something he believed in. Now he lived on an island to die and not fight evil, it didn’t seem like the Luke Skywalker that I grew up to
