AN: No pairings in this one. The only reason I wrote this is because Ford seemed to be better with kids in the first episode he appeared than in The Last Mablecorn. Seriously, he scared poor Dipper into a corner! That is not the logical adult thing to do! So, I wrote the logical adult thing to do.

Summary: Stanford Pines tries a different approach to getting Dipper to calm down that doesn’t scare him half to death.

He made a point of saying that he immediately shut the portal down, trying to undo the damage he had done. As Ford explained, he felt Dipper’s racing heart begin to slow down to a normal pace. He stopped hyperventilating as well. “I’m sorry I scared you. I should have tried to explain immediately.” Dipper said nothing. “You did exactly what I would have hoped for you to do if I had been possessed. You were very brave Dipper, and I’m very thankful for that.” Ford tried, hoping the praise would work better.

It did. Dipper relaxed against him, sighing shakily. “I-I could have erased your mind.” He shuddered again. Ford gently ruffled his hair. “It’s fine. My mind can’t be erased, remember?” He gently tapped his fingers against the metal plate in his head. Dipper nodded.

They heard the door slam open upstairs. Ford looked to the door of the private study, then looked at the back of Dipper’s head. “We should go up there, and see if they have the unicorn hair.” Ford told the mass of brown fluff. He carefully put Dipper down, and when he saw he could stand up on his own, he let him go. They walked together, through the study and to the door. Dipper looked at the demon covered walls, and Ford muttered “Getting rid of that later.” Dipper looked up at him. “I’ll help.” They both smiled, then walked out of the room, leaving Bill
