Practice Critique on “The Latest from the Feminist Front” Renown former radio talk show host and college dropout, Rush Limbaugh discusses his personal view on how the feminist movement is changing traditional relationships between man and woman in his essay “The Latest from the Feminist Front” (2010). Limbaugh brings up this topic because of controversy surrounding his belief about feminism in his “Thirty-Five Undeniable Truths of Life.” He writes this essay as a response to the outrage he received from sharing his belief, and he addressed this essay to those who were offended by his view. Throughout the essay, Limbaugh explains how the feminist agenda is attempting to make male interests on women be seen as disrespectful and inappropriate. One example of his misogyny is seen when he describes how “men will become fearful about making any advances (164).” Limbaugh states that all men will soon become fearful of making approaches and advances on women, and the exception to this claim would be to find one male on Earth that openly admits to making advancements in his relationships with women. Later on, Limbaugh attempts to justify his opinion by explaining, “Militant feminists criminalize the process of courtship-the old fashioned chase (165).” He says it’s traditional and natural for a male to pursue a female. Even before he wrote this essay, he stated, “Feminism was established so that unattractive women could have easier access to the mainstream of society (164).” He states that attractive women hold higher statuses that unattractive women. Then, Limbaugh states, “If consent is denied and the aggressive male physically forces himself on the woman to the point of penetration, then you have rape-real rape (165).” Sexual harassment constitutes more than just the physical act of rape; many acts such as inappropriate verbal conduct, inappropriate touching, and even when no is not present can still be considered sexual assault and harassment.
