The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow was published in 1820 by Washington Irving. Washington Irving made his debut professionally by writing newspaper articles and short stories. He was born on April 3,1783 in the city of New York, and died November 28, 1859. Some people called him the “first american man of letters”. Some of his most famous writings are “ Rip Van Winkle” and “ The Devil of Tom Walker” along with “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.
Some say that the story was based off of a german folktale, “ The Wild Huntsman”.
