These texts give an insight into the prevailing issues that fraught the society the composer lives or lived in. This can be seen in, “The Lego Movie,” which provides a satirical insight into the issues of today. Furthermore, the comedy skit, “Apple Irack,” explores the negative implications of America’s involvement with Iraq and Iran in the early 21st century, in a humorous way. Furthermore, the satirical text by Jonathan Swift, “A Modest Proposal,” explores the issues of the poor and homeless in the 1700s Ireland. All of these texts all look into the issues that are in their society, while hiding these serious implications behind humour.

The lego movie is a light hearted movie featuring the protagonist Emmet going through the daily motions of everyday life. The first few scenes make fun of the mechanical way Emmet lives as he tries to achieve true happiness, reflecting on the way we live society today. This can be seen when Emmet is reading manuals about how to be happy, doing these tasks mechanically. This symbolises the way we live today, doing things that others tell us so we can be happy,
