WARNING: THERE ARE SPOILERS THAT ARE FURTHER INTO “The Lightning Thief”. Percy’s experiences align with the Hero’s Journey by connecting hand-in-hand with each other between Act 1 and Act 2. First, both the Hero’s Journey and Percy’s experiences relate to Act 1, paragraph 3. Percy first experiences “The Call to Adventure” by being chased by the Minotaur. “The Call to Adventure” is referred as; “In most cases, there is some event leading to danger that starts the adventure; sometimes the hero stumbles upon the quest on accident.” On page 50, it says,“His neck was a mass of muscle and fur leading up to his enormous head, which had a snout as long as my arm; so this is a sign of danger that we can infer will lead up to a quest.
