The Magnolia Story by: Chip and Joanna Gaines The Magnolia Story is the story of Chip and Joanna Gaines life. They wrote this book so their fans get a detailed look at how they started a life together and how is now. Which included childhood stories that have shaped them into who they are today. From their very first flip to the Villas project where they could have lost everything. Both Chip and Joanna graduated from Baylor University, in Waco, Texas. They met at Joanna’s dad business, Joanna worked in the office, and Chip was a customer. Chip was an entrepreneur who, was flipping houses on 3rd street, and Joanna started design ideas in Chip’s flip house. People started wanting Chip and Joanna to redecorating and remodel their homes. They finally decided they could start on a dream of Chip’s the Villa project, developing homes in the Baylor University area, just as they started, the housing market crashed, which caused the banks to recall the loans. Chip had to find private investors to pay vendors for materials used. The local paper heard about the Villas’ development and wrote an article on the front page, and buyers want to buy homes. They were able to sell homes, which meant they could finish them. HGTV saw Joanna’s blog, and contact them about a pilot TV show, about their personal and business life. The TV crew came and filmed them redesigning and remodeling a home, and viewer loved it and contacted them to come to their homes in other states, but with small children, Chip and Joanna decided to stay in the Waco, Texas area.
