Summary The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick is a historical fiction novel where the Axis powers win World War 2 and take over the United States and president Franklin Delano Roosevelt was assassinated. The eastern part of the U.S is now controlled by Germany and the western part of the U.S is controlled by Japan and there is a neutral zone in the middle. It takes place in 1962 and the Germans have made slavery legal again and wiped out almost the entire black population in Africa. And the few remaining jews in the U.S hide under fake names and plastic surgery. This story has multiple points of view throughout but I will focus on Robert Childan. The beginning of this story takes place in the Japanese controlled San Francisco where Robert Childan owns an antique store called American Artistic Handcrafts. He is waiting for a package to give to one of his customers Mr. Tagomi a Japanese official. The package is running late and this is a problem because Tagomi needs it for a gift, so Childan agrees to go to his office with other possibilities he has in stock.
