Role model. A role model is a person whose behavior that others can mimic, especially by younger people. Via from the book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio and Lupe from the short story “The Marble champ” by Gary Soto are both good role models. Both Lupe and Via are Intelligent and determined and for these reasons they are good role models.
The first reason, why both Via and Lupe are good role models are because they are intelligent meaning that they are smart. For example in the book “The Marble Champ” Lupe has won a ton of academic awards at school such as being the blue ribbon awardee at the science fair. To begin with, Lupe practices for her marble tournament she’s entering. In the book, it says she does 20 finger push-ups a day. This is very rigorous training and shows that Lupe is determined to do whatever it takes to win. Another way Lupe shows determination is when she got temporarily blinded at the marbles tournament. Even though she was temporarily blinded by the dust on the field, she still tried her best to beat her opponent and ended up winning Lupe is not the only one who shows determination throughout her story Via also does. One of the many ways that Via is Determined is that she worked hard to study her lines for the play. Even though Via is an understudy, she still works hard to study her lines for the play. This verifies that even if Via isn’t in the play she is determined enough to study for it just in case. Another way Via is determined in the story is that she protects her brother who has a facial deformity in public. This also shows she is determined to protect and make her brother’s life easier. All of the evidence I provided supports my claim that both Via and Lupe are good role
