Have you ever wondered what the similarities and the differences of the “Medicine Bag” and the “Apache Girl” are? The contrast is that their traditions are different and the comparison is that they both get something that is important to their tradition. This is important because you will learn about both stories and you will learn about the similarities and differences between both stories.
The “Medicine Bag” and “Apache Girls” are similar. Both of the characters receive something important and special. Martin from the “Medicine Bag” received a traditional bag from his Grandpa while Dachina went through a coming a coming age ritual. The characters were then recognized as an adult in their culture. Also both stories focused on tradition. They both have to go through something to get something important in their culture. Both characters have to get something big and important in the culture.

Dachina is happy for her party but is not aloud to show it and Martin is not happy to see his Grandpa, he didn't want to see him because he didn't want to get made fun of by his friends. In the “Medicine Bag” Martin says that “He wants to sink in the cement, because he was so embarrassed.” In the “Apache Girls” Dachina says that “She is so happy and excited but im not aloud to show it.” It shows how different the stories are different, like how Martin reacts compared to how Dachina feels. Also, Martin didn’t want to see his Grandpa because he didn’t want to have his friends make fun of him for his Grandpa. Dachina was going into womanhood so she had to go through four days of fun to make it through to womanhood. Martin had no idea that his Grandpa came to give him the Medicine Bag, as for Dachina knew she was having the party. Martin didn't know what to expect while Dachina knew that she was having the party so she could prepare for what was coming. Each character reacts differently, like Dachina was happy and Martin was embarrassed and
